Enyiresi (E/R), March 27, GNA – Eleven persons sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Voxy at Frimpongso Junction near Enyiresi on the Accra-Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region The victims, made up of six males and five females, were rescued by bystanders and rushed to the Enyiresi Government Hospital before personnel from the Anyinam Fire Station arrived at the scene.
A Press statement from the Eastern Regional Public Relations Office of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the accident occurred on Monday, March 23, 2026. According to the press release, preliminary investigations suggested that the driver of the Toyota Camry attempted a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre, resulting in a head-on collision with the Toyota Voxy. The statement said the Anyinam Fire Station responded to the emergency after receiving a distress call and arrived at the scene at 17.27 hours. However, by the time the crew got there, some members of the public had already rescued the injured victims from the accident scene and conveyed them to the hospital for treatment. The two vehicles involved in the accident sustained extensive damage. The Ghana National Fire Service estimated the damage cost of the affected vehicles at GH¢170,000, with salvage value put at GH¢350,000. Fire officers remained at the scene to ensure safety, assess the situation, and manage the aftermath of the collision before leaving at 18:49 hours and returning to base at 19:21 hours. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers associated with reckless overtaking on major highways in the country. Motorists have therefore been urged to exercise patience, observe road traffic regulations, and
avoid risky driving behaviours that could endanger lives and property. GNA
