Techire (Ahafo), March 9, GNA – Obrempong Dr Okoh Agyemang Boakye II, Chief of Techire in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region, has advised families to reduce excessive spending on funerals and weddings.
He said such expenditures often strained household finances.
He encouraged families instead to channel their resources into the education of their children to secure a better future for them.
Obrempong Dr Boakye II gave the advice at the Municipal celebration of the 69th Independence Anniversary held at Techire, where he expressed worry about the rising incidence of school dropouts in the area.
He emphasized that families had a major responsibility in ensuring quality education for their children, stressing that education remained key to life’s success.
He therefore urged schoolchildren to take their studies seriously.
Madam Diana Koranteng, the Techire Circuit Officer of the School Improvement Support, also raised concerns about the lack of adequate furniture and textbooks in several schools within the municipality.
She appealed to the government to provide the needed support to enhance teaching and learning.
She commended the chief for his continuous efforts and contributions towards improving education in the area.
