Bulgaria: Teenager Ivan Ivanov wins biggest title of professional tennis career

Tarragona, Spain, March 29 (BTA/GNA) – Bulgarian tennis talent Ivan Ivanov won the biggest title of his professional career at the M25 ITF tournament in Tarragona, Spain, on Sunday. The 17-year-old scored a 6-3 6-2 victory over Spaniard Alex Marti Pujorlas (No. 562) in the final.

The Bulgarian lost just two sets in five matches during the tournament. His biggest win came against No. 333 Sean Cuenin in the first round – Ivanov had to stage a 5-7 6-3 6-2 comeback against an opponent much higher in the rankings.

That is Ivanov’s second title in professional tennis after the one at the M15 tournament in Szentendre, Hungary last year. In 2025 he claimed two out of four junior Grand Slam titles after triumphs at Wimbledon and US Open.

That was his third ITF final of the year after two at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor, Spain. When the ranking ladder is updated, the teenager, who is currently No. 780 in the world, will be close to top 600.
