Odomase, (Bono), March 11, GNA – Mr Kofi Martin, a United States-based businessman has been enstooled as the Paramount Chief of the Awua-Domase Traditional Area in the Bono Region, under the stool name Okogyeaman Kwabena Kyere II.
He succeeded his late uncle Nana Kwame Korang VI who died in 2017 after a short illness, rendering the stool vacant for nine years.
At a colourful ceremony held at Odomase in the Sunyani West Municipality, Nana Kwabena Ofori, the Abakomahene (sub-chief) of the Awua-Domase Traditional Council performed traditional rites to seal the enstoolment of the new paramount chief.
It was a great spectacle to behold, as the chiefs and the people of the area danced to traditional drumming, exhibiting cultural displays.
As tradition demands, the people carried the newly enstooled paramount chief shoulder-high and paraded him through the streets of the Odomase township.
Okogreaman Kyere II, a royal from the KwatireFiem family, later told the media in an interview that he had prioritized development, and expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of the area for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to serve the people in humility and in diligence, spearhead developmental activities, rallying their support, and people to bury their differences, remained formidable and contribute to the holistic development of the area.
Miss Millicent Amankwaa Yeboah, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, and a daughter of the paramount chief also expressed appreciation to the people for the confidence they had reposed in her father.
She said the peaceful enstoolment of her father as the paramount chief of the area was clear indication that the people desired development and pledged her dedication to work hard to bring the development of the area to the next level.
Ms Yeboah pledged her dedication in engaging the chiefs and queens on the area in development processes, saying that as the embodiment of the people, the contribution of the traditional authorities in advancing development could not be compromised.
