Techiman, (Bono East) March 31, GNA – Dr Freeman Samson Samani, the Bono East Regional Director for Health Services has expressed satisfaction about improved ante-natal and postnatal care attendance in the region.
He said presently nine out of 10 pregnant women in the region had completed at least four antenatal clinics, saying that post-natal attendance had also reached 100 percent coverage.
Dr Samani said this when speaking at the 2025 Annual Performance Review meeting of the directorate at Techiman, saying that family planning acceptor rate had also improved.
It was on the theme: “Improving Maternal and Newborn Health and NCD Outcomes through Quality and Accessible Primary Health Care”.
He said the directorate had also maintained a strong immunization performance, with childhood vaccination achieving about 90 percent.
Dr Samani noted that those achievements were a testament to the dedication of health workers as well as dedication of District and Municipal health management teams.
He called for effective stakeholder collaboration to improve primary health care and urged the government and the community leaders to help improve health infrastructure and human resources to achieve Universal Health Coverage.
Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, stressed the government’s dedication to advance the health sector to improve the quality of life of the people, saying that plans were far advanced for the construction of a regional hospital.
He said about 23 medical practitioners had been posted to the region, saying that 19 of them were on duty.
Mr Owusu said the Techiman Holy Family Hospital had also received dialysis machines to respond to kidney related diseases, saying that the Regional Coordinating Council had directed the various Municipal and District Assemblies to complete all abandoned health projects.
