Kpetoe (V/R), Feb 23, GNA – Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, the Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Sunday, visited Agotime to join former MP Juliana Azumah-Mensah and her family in marking the 10th anniversary of the late mother Felicia Adzo Kanyi.
The event was held to honour the late respected matriarch of the community.
The commemoration, which took place at Agotime-Ziope, brought together senior party figures including Ambassador Captain George Nfodzo (rtd) and Mr Kofi Attor (former MP of Ho), who joined in paying tribute to the late community leader for her service and influence.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Agbavitor said the gathering was a reminder that “a river does not forget its source,” adding that honouring those who laboured before the current generation was a duty that anchored the party’s values and direction.
He emphasised that the legacy of past leaders remained “a guiding footprint” in shaping the region’s political progress.
From Agotime, the Regional Chairman travelled to the Afadzato South District, where he met with the area’s MP, the District Chief Executive, and members of the Constituency Executive Committee to review organisational strategies and ongoing constituency development concerns.
Mr Agbavitor noted that strengthening collaboration between regional, district and constituency leadership was essential for keeping the party’s grassroots structure strong.
“When the pillars meet, the house stands firm,” he remarked, stressing the importance of unity and coordination ahead of future political engagements.
The meetings focused on how the party could consolidate gains, address local needs and maintain effective communication structures that support community development and political mobilisation across the district.
Mr Agbavitor said the day’s activities reflected a broader purpose.
“We remember with gratitude, we organise with purpose, and we advance with unity,” the NDC Volta Regional Chairman said
He added that the NDC in the Volta Region remained committed to honouring its history while preparing strategically for the tasks ahead.
