Three SWESBUS students arrested over viral assault of Obrachire student

Cape Coast, Feb. 25, GNA – The Police in the Central Region have arrested three students of the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) for their alleged involvement in the viral violent attack on a student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School during a recent sporting event.   

The students, 20-year-old Joseph Amoh, 18-year-old Benedict Appiah and 18-year-old Bilal Mamud were handed over to the Swedru Divisional Police Command on Monday night by school authorities and are expected to be arraigned soon.   

Their arrest followed a 24-hour ultimatum issued by COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, the Director-General of CID to the authorities of SWESBUS during a crunch meeting over the incident on Monday.   

At 21:00 hours the same day, the school authorities rounded up the three students and marched them to the Police command.   

The Central Regional Police Command in an update issued on Tuesday, denounced the assault as captured in the viral video cautioned urge the public, especially students against engaging in acts of violence.   

Meanwhile, four other students who were also injured during the attack had been treated and discharged from the Agona Municipal Hospital and the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba, according to Mr Bismark Offei, Agona West Municipal Director of Education.   

Another student who was critically injured had been referred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment, Mr Ofei, revealed.
