Kpotame (V/R), Feb. 05, GNA – Mr Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the South Tongu Constituency, has supported the Kpotame Health Centre with essential laboratory equipment to facilitate the establishment of a laboratory at the facility.

The items included Filter instrument box, Sponge forceps Rampley straight, air conditioners, microscope amongst other essential laboratory equipment.

The items were received by Ms Mavis Agumeh, the District Director of Health Services, and handed over to the Chairman of the Community Health Management Committee (CHMC), Mr Picoco Grant Dugbenu, in the presence of health officials and community leaders.

The intervention followed a request from the Directorate, as the health centre had operated for several decades without a laboratory.

When fully operational, the facility is expected to improve diagnostic services for Kpotame and surrounding communities within the South Tongu District, as well as parts of the neighbouring Ada East District.

Mr Lukutor emphasised the need for the proper use and maintenance of the equipment to ensure efficiency and sustainability and reiterated his commitment to accountability in the implementation of development interventions.

During the visit, the MP inspected a newly installed 30 Litres Per Minute (30LPM) Medical Oxygen Generator (System Oxycon) at the centre, described as the only one currently serving the district.

He also highlighted other ongoing health-related interventions in the constituency, including the renovation of the Dordoekope and Agbakope Clinics, the earlier provision of motorbikes to the Xikpo and Besakope CHPS compounds, and assured the Health Directorate of his support towards the renovation of the health centre’s staff quarters.

Ms Agumeh lauded the efforts of the MP and pledged that the equipment would be used purposefully to serve the people of South Tongu and beyond.
