Penkwasi SDA District presents sanitation materials to basic schools

Sunyani, (Bono), Feb. 18, GNA – The Penkwasi District of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of the Mid-west Ghana Conference (MWGC) has presented some sanitation materials worth GH¢20,000 to three basic schools in the Sunyani Municipality to improve sanitation and waste management.  

The beneficiaries comprise Sunyani Municipal Assembly Basic School, High Street Basic School, and Penkwasi Adventist Preparatory School, with each of them receiving washing basins, dustbins, dustpans, washing soap, and other sanitation essentials.  

Speaking at a brief ceremony in Sunyani, Pastor Maxwell Obour Boateng Awuah, the President of the MWGC said the presentation formed part of activities outlined to mark the 40th Anniversary of the conference.  

He said the MWGC was dedicated to improving hygiene and promoting healthy school environments, saying that the presentation reflected the church’s commitment to making a positive impact in the local communities.  

Pastor Atta Boakye, the District Pastor, said the church intended to conduct more community-focused activities which had direct benefit to the people as part of the celebration, saying that: “Our initiatives also aligned with the church’s broader mission of service and outreach”.  

Elder Dr Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, the Chairman of the District Planning Committee of the celebration commended the church for their commitment and active participation in the celebration.  

Headteachers of the beneficiary schools also expressed gratitude to the church for the support, describing the donation as timely, saying that the materials would greatly improve waste management, and sanitation and hygiene standards in their respective schools.  

Pastor Edward Opoku, the Director of Education at the North Central Ghana Union Mission of the SDA attended the event.
