Assin Bebokoko (C/R), Feb 04, GNA – Rev Kojo Odame, a philanthropist has admonished parents to actively support their wards to discover, nurture and help develop their talents while pursuing formal education.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Assin Bebokoko in the Assin South District of the Central Region, he said some parents or guardians unknowingly supressed the God given talents of their children by discouraging them.

He said children participating in sports and other skills activities for instance, must not be discouraged through insults and unprintable words.

Rev Odame noted that such attitudes were uncalled for and could jeopardise and demoralise the children and prevent them from realising their full potentials.

Biblically, he said every child was endowed with some unique abilities that must be identified and nurtured to ensure holistic development.

Emphatically, he said, sports was on his priority list and he would very soon scout for young talents through a football competition in the district.

The initiative, he said would help uncover, nurture and train promising young footballers from local communities to both national and international clubs.

He therefore appealed to parents to allow their wards to develop their talents to the benefits of all.

Later, Rev Odame donated an amount of GH¢3,500.00 to the elders of the town to assist in reshaping of the town road which is in a deplorable condition.
