Sunyani, (Bono), Feb. 20, GNA – The Berekum Divisional Police Command in the Bono Region has arrested a 39‑year‑old man for alleged narcotic offences.

The suspect, David Frimpong, was apprehended in an uncompleted building at Nyamebekyere in the Berekum Municipality, where he was found with quantities of suspected narcotic drugs.

A statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the police retrieved 57 compressed slabs, 195 wraps, and three sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

It said the suspect attempted to escape but was subdued and arrested by the police. The exhibits, it added, had been retained for evidence and forensic examination.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations indicated that Frimpong allegedly dealt in and distributed narcotic drugs within the Municipality.
