Rodríguez visits soldiers in US attack on Venezuela

Buenos Aires, Jan 5, (dpa/GNA) – Venezuelan acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, has visited soldiers injured in the US attack over the weekend.

Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino, accompanied her on her visit to a military hospital in the capital Caracas on Monday, the state news agency AVN reported.

The Venezuelan government has not yet disclosed how many people were killed and injured in the US operation to capture authoritarian leader Nicolás Maduro early Saturday. The New York Times reported 80 deaths, citing a senior Venezuelan official.

According to the government in Havana, 32 Cubans were killed in the US military strike.

Security forces from the allied Caribbean state have been deployed in Venezuela for years. They were responsible for Maduro’s personal security as bodyguards, or for maintaining discipline within the armed forces.
