Police in France investigate reports teenage girl was tortured

Paris, Jan 29, (dpa/GNA) – French authorities are investigating several young people, accused of detaining and violently assaulting a 15-year-old girl near Lyon, media reports said on Wednesday.

The suspects include three girls aged between 14 and 17 and a 17-year-old boy. According to the Lyon public prosecutor’s office, the investigation includes allegations of torture.

French media reported that the suspects allegedly burned and stabbed the girl, and recorded the abuse on video.

The victim was found in the early hours of Monday morning south of Lyon, with a leg wound and cuts to her back. She told police she had been held against her will and attacked by four people in a cellar after being driven to the location and having her phone taken from her.

A 19-year-old man is also under investigation on suspicion of having transported the victim and some of the suspects to the location.

The Lyon prosecutor’s office has requested that he be placed under judicial supervision, while the four minors are expected to be held in pre-trial detention.

Authorities said the circumstances and motives behind the alleged attack remain unclear.
