Police, EC deploy logistics for NPP primary in Eastern Region  

Koforidua, Jan. 29, GNA – The Electoral Commission (EC) office in the Eastern Region has begun distributing election materials to its district offices in preparation for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.   

The materials include ballot papers, the voter album, and the statement of poll and declaration of results forms.   

Mr John Appiah Baffoe, the Eastern Regional Director of the Commission, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that each District Electoral Officer reported to the regional office in the company of police personnel and collation agents of the presidential aspirants to collect the items.   

He said the officers were required to keep the logistics at the nearest Police station for onward distribution to the various constituencies on election day.   

A total of 22,284 delegates are expected to cast their ballots across the 33 constituencies.   

Mr Baffoe assured the public of a smooth exercise and urged all delegates to adhere to the code of conduct governing the election.   

The presidential primary will select the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general election.   

The Eastern Regional Police Command has indicated its readiness for the polls, scheduled for Saturday.   

It said 125 personnel and two senior officers would be deployed to all voting centres, supported by Rapid Response Teams, riot control units, and standby officers to reinforce security as needed.   

The presidential aspirants are Mr Ken Ohene Agyapong, who appears first on the ballot; Dr Bryan Acheampong, second; Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, third; Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, fourth; and Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, fifth.
