Seoul, Jan 4, (dpa/GNA) – North Korea accused the United States on Sunday, of a severe violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty.
“The incident is another example that clearly confirms once again the rogue and brutal nature of the US,” the state news agency KCNA quoted a spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry as saying.
The Foreign Ministry “strongly denounces the US hegemony-seeking act committed in Venezuela, as the most serious form of encroachment on sovereignty,” the spokesman added.
The comments came a few hours after North Korea fired several ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan. The test could possibly be interpreted as a reaction to the US attack in Venezuela, South Korean media quoted some experts as saying.
North Korea, like Russia, China and Iran, is an ally of Venezuela.
During a military attack on Saturday, US forces captured President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, and took them out of the country. They are to be tried in New York on charges including “narco-terrorism conspiracy.”
