Initiate effective strategies to improve education – MCE charges education oversight committee

Kumasi, Jan. 16, GNA – Mr Ben Abdullah Alhassan, Asokore-Mampong Municipal Chief Executive, has urged the Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC) to initiate effective strategies that will help improve educational delivery in the area.

He said issues such as inadequate infrastructure, poor supervision, and service delivery were impeding quality education delivery in the municipality.

There is the need for the oversight committee to work towards addressing some of these issues to help improve education standards in the municipality.

Mr Alhassan was speaking at the inauguration of a 12-member municipal education oversight committee, at Asokore-Mampong.

He said the assembly was implementing various initiatives to improve educational infrastructure and called for support from all stakeholders to promote quality education in the area.

He expressed confidence that the MEOC would play a crucial role in strengthening educational delivery to enhance the performance of school children in the municipality.

The committee was formed in accordance with Section 28 of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936), which mandates Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies to establish sub-committees to enhance the efficacy of their functions, including oversight responsibilities in critical sectors such as education.

The committee is tasked with the diligent collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure effective monitoring, accountability, and enhanced performance within the educational sector in the municipality.
