Gunu honours Team Volta after historic TVET athletics triumph win

Ho (V/R), Jan 22, GNA – Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, has received Team Volta after their emergence as the overall champions at the maiden Ghana TVET National Athletics Championship.

Mr Gunu received the delegation at his office in Ho on Wednesday, following the team’s impressive performance in Cape Coast.

The delegation, known as Team Volta, was led by Mr Christian Agordah, the Volta Regional Director of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The team formally presented trophies won at the championship, where the Volta Region placed first on the national medal table.

Mr Gunu described the feat as historic and praised the athletes for demonstrating discipline, commitment and regional pride.

“This achievement reflects the enormous potential of our young people when given the right support and opportunities,” he said.

He commended the coaches and technical officials for their dedication and urged the team to remain focused and humble in victory.

As a mark of recognition and motivation, the Regional Minister announced a cash donation of GHS10,000.00 to support the team.

“I remain committed to promoting sports development and youth empowerment across the Volta Region,” Mr Gunu added.

Mr Agordah expressed his appreciation for the support and highlighted logistical and funding challenges, describing the donation as timely and encouraging.
