Dormaa West District makes progress in water coverage-DCE

By Dennis Peprah, GNA

Nkrankwanta (Bono), Jan. 23, GNA -Mr Stephen Azorba Awuni, the Dormaa West District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Bono Region, says the district has made significant progress in the provision of potable drinking water to the deprived communities in the area.

He commended President John Dramani Mahama for the release of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) which enabled the area to extend its water coverage to the people.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Awuni said the assembly had constructed 20 boreholes, assuring that it would do more this year to improve the district’s water coverage.
Mr Awuni said with the construction of the new boreholes, only 47 out of the 99 major communities in the area needed similar supply, pledging to ensure that all the deprived areas had access to clean water.

The DCE expressed concern about the deplorable condition of roads in the area which remained the major development challenge, however, with the implementation of the government ‘Big Push’ road infrastructure project, it was their hope that the bad nature of some of the roads in the area would be reshaped.
