Beirut, Jan 26, (dpa/GNA) – Despite an existing ceasefire between Syria’s transitional government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), mutual attacks are continuing according to both sides.
The SDF said on Monday that five civilians had been killed south-east of the city of Kobane, alleging government forces carried out the attack using artillery, tanks and drones. Five others were injured. All of the victims were members of the same family, the group said.
State news agency SANA, citing the Syrian army, reported that the SDF had launched more than 25 explosive drones at government troop positions on Sunday, destroying four army vehicles.
The army also said civilians were injured in SDF attacks.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it had recorded several ceasefire violations, with multiple villages hit by heavy weapons or drones.
The ceasefire was extended for a further 15 days on Saturday evening.
Kobane, a Kurdish-held city, is surrounded by the Turkish border to its north and government forces on all sides.
