Speaking at the event, Madam Henrietta Prekoe, Officer for the Gender Desk, appealed for increased support to combat gender-based violence in the Bodi District.

She defined gender-based violence as including rape, assault, harassment, and other forms of violence against women, men, children, and girls.

Madam Prekoe encouraged victims to report incidents to the appropriate authorities and assured survivors of confidentiality and support.

The march culminated in the presentation of a petition to the Mr Stephen Baidoo, Bodi District Chief Executive, who pledged the assembly’s commitment to addressing gender-based violence.

Mr Baidoo indicated that the government had implemented policies, including Act 2007 (Act 732), to address the issue, but emphasized that more needed to be done.

He urged citizens to break the silence on gender-based violence, support survivors, and hold perpetrators accountable.
