Unity, development top agenda at Ho West Chiefs congress meeting

Tsito, Dec. 23, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho West has urged traditional leaders to strengthen unity to accelerate development across the district.

He made the call when he met the Ho West Congress of Paramount Chiefs and Queen Mothers at the Awudome Traditional Council.
The meeting brought together Paramount Chiefs and Queen Mothers from all 16 traditional areas in the district.

It provided an opportunity for the traditional authorities to dine together, reflect on their shared heritage, and renew commitment to harmony and collective progress.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Bedzrah said sustainable development in Ho West could only be achieved through unity, coordination, and mutual respect among traditional leaders.

He recounted the early days of his parliamentary journey and the collective struggle that led to the creation of Ho West as a district. The MP paid tribute to traditional leaders of blessed memory, including Togbe Ayisa of Holuta, Togbe Gadze of Kpoeta, the late regent of Hlefi and a former Togbega of Tsyome, for their immense contributions.

As a practical step to foster cohesion, Mr Bedzrah reiterated his commitment to provide a bus for the Congress to serve all traditional areas without discrimination.

In the spirit of the Yuletide, he also presented financial support totalling GH₵120,000.00 to the 16 traditional areas to support their activities.

Mr Bedzrah highlighted progress being made under government programmes, citing economic gains achieved through prudent financial management without borrowing.

To underscore his commitment to reconciliation, the MP knelt before the chiefs and appealed for unity, urging them to place the development of Ho West above personal differences.

In recognition of his service, the Ho West Congress of Chiefs and Queen Mothers presented Mr Bedzrah with a citation of honour for his contributions to district development.

Mr Francis Profer Dusey, the District Chief Executive for Ho West, who was present, commended the chiefs and stakeholders for their continuous support towards the district’s growth.
