Protect Chieftaincy Sanctity — Torgbui Tettey-Gefu

Dakudzi (V/R), Dec. 24, GNA — Torgbui Ladzekpo Tettey-Gefu IV, Chief of Horti in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has called for the protection of the sanctity of chieftaincy institutions, describing them as sacred legacies handed down by the forefathers.  

He said the chieftaincy institution remained a vital pillar of Ghana’s cultural identity and social cohesion and must be respected and preserved at all times.  

Torgbui Tettey-Gefu IV warned that any infraction or undue interference in chieftaincy matters could do more harm than good, particularly to peace, unity and development at the community level.  

He made the call at the coronation of Torgbui Teku IV at Dakudzi in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region.  

The Horti Chief charged the newly enstooled chief to rule with humility, wisdom and respect for divergent views, noting that effective leadership thrived on consultation and inclusiveness.  

He urged Torgbui Teku IV to prioritise development, peace and unity, and to work closely with opinion leaders, youth and women to advance the socio-economic growth of the community.  

Torgbui Bofra Kwasi Awanya II of Live-Akpla Kofe, in his remarks, advised the Stool Father, Queen Mother, Linguist and elders to give the needed support to the new chief to enable him to rule successfully.  

Torgbui Awanya II said unity among traditional authorities was key to sustaining peace and accelerating development, and called on the people of Dakudzi to rally behind their chief.  

He encouraged the youth to remain law-abiding and contribute meaningfully to community development, while respecting traditional authority.  

The colourful coronation ceremony attracted chiefs, elders, queen mothers, family heads and residents from Dakudzi, Adzonkor , Agbedor Kofe, Sowlada Kofe, among others communities, pledged their support to the new chief.
