Palestinian Authority condemns attack on Jewish community in Sydney

Tel Aviv, Dc 15, (dpa/GNA) – The Palestinian Authority has condemned the mass shooting by two gunmen, during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney on Sunday.

The attack left at least 12 people dead, in what Australian leaders declared a terrorist attack aimed at the Jewish community.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the State of Palestine issued a statement, which reaffirms its position rejecting all forms of extremism and terrorism, including the killing of civilians.

It also condemned the continued killing of civilians by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The statement expressed condolences to the victims’ families, as well as to the Australian government and people and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Australia is among several countries that recognized a Palestinian state this year.

Israel has accused Australia of encouraging terrorism against Jews.
