Accra, Dec. 19, GNA – The newly constituted Governing Board of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) on Thursday held its maiden meeting, pledging to work closely with Management to advance the objectives of the Corporation.
The meeting, held at the PHDC Head Office in Accra, enabled members to formally commence their duties in line with the Corporation’s enabling Act.
In his opening remarks, the Board Chairman, Mr George Blay-Morkeh, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting Management to ensure the successful delivery of the Petroleum Hub Project at Jomoro, citing its significant benefits to local communities and the national economy.
He said the Board was made up of seasoned professionals with diverse expertise and assured that members would harness their collective experience to drive the Corporation’s vision of establishing Africa’s leading petroleum and petrochemical hub.
Mr Blay-Morkeh further indicated that the welfare of Management and staff remained a top priority for the Board, and pledged its full support towards the realisation of the Petroleum Hub initiative.
Welcoming the Board, the Chief Executive Officer of PHDC, Dr Toni Aubynn, who is also a member of the Board, expressed appreciation to the members for accepting the call by President John Dramani Mahama to serve the nation.
Dr Aubynn urged the Board to bring their expertise, networks and strategic insights to bear as the Corporation works to develop the Petroleum Hub Project, which he said had the potential to transform the Jomoro area and significantly boost Ghana’s economy.
He assured the Board of the cooperation of Management and staff and pledged a united effort to position Ghana as a leading energy hub on the continent.
After the meeting, Board members toured the PHDC offices and interacted with staff, reiterating their commitment to supporting them in the discharge of their duties.
The PHDC Board, inaugurated by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, on November 20, 2025, is chaired by Mr George Blay-Morkeh.
Other members are Dr Toni Aubynn, Mr David Ampofo, Mr Francis Tettey-Sackey, Mr Patrick Ofori, Mr Abednego Akuteck and Dr Mizpah Ama Dziedzorm Rockson.
