Sunyani (Bono), Dec. 26, GNA – MTN Ghana, a telecommunication company on Friday presented 30 Christmas hampers to babies born in the festive season at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital (STH) and the Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital in the Bono Region.
Each of the hampers contained baby towel, sponge, powder, pomade, toy among others with the STH receiving 20 and the Berekum hospital 10 of the hampers.
Mr Kofi Owusu, the Bono Regional Manager of the MTN Ghana told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the side-lines of a short presentation held at premises of STH that the gesture aligned to the company Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
“We do that every year to put smiles on the faces and aid the beneficiary mothers in the upbringing and development of their babies.
Mr Owusu said the MTN was also ready to ensure that Mobile Money (MOMO) collection points were opened at the two health facilities to enable clients to pay their bills through their MOMO accounts.
He therefore called for cooperation and support from the management of the two health facilities for the establishment of the collection points for mutual benefit.
Mrs Eunice Oppong-Amoah, the Director In-charge of Nursing and Midwifery at the STH commended MTN for the kindness and appealed to the company to also consider providing smart phones and airtime to the nurses and the midwives too.
She said so far six babies, comprising five females and a male had been delivered between Wednesday December 24 and Friday December 26, and expressed the hope that others who were also in labour would be delivered safely.
Mrs Oppong-Amoah said all the babies and their mothers were healthy, though some of them were born through Caesarean Section (CS).
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Veronica Lagbeneku thanked MTN for the kindness and urged the company to do more for the nursing mothers.
