Madam Happy Klutse tops farmers in Shama District

Assorku (WR), Dec. 6, GNA – Mr. Otis Dentu, the District Chief Executive of the Shama, has praised farmers in the District  for their resilience in the face of rising input costs, unpredictable rainfall patterns and post-harvest losses.  

 He noted that despite the challenges, farmers in Shama District and surrounding communities had contributed significantly to the district’s farm outputs.  

Mr. Dentu,  at the District celebration of this year’s farmers day, said: “The presence of farmers is very crucial in our day to day lives and so they deserve every respect and recognition.”  

The DCE also encouraged community members to support local farmers by consuming more Ghana-grown produce while urging farmers to adopt improved practices to increase yields sustainably.  

The Overall Best Farmer for the Shama District, went o Mrs. Happy Klutse from Bronikrom, who received a tricycle, cutlasses and assorted farm tools.  

Others awardees took home prizes, including fridges, farm inputs and certificates of honour.   

Local fishmongers and vegetable growers were also recognized for excellence in agribusiness and community service.  

The event brought together traditional authorities, opinion leaders, agricultural extension officers and representatives from the Shama District Assembly to recognize outstanding contributors to local food production.
