Essamang Kakraba (W/R), Dec. 29, GNA – The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Essamang Kakraba Assembly has hosted get-together and food competition for area churches in Tarkwa Nsuaem and Prestea Huni-Valley Municipalities.
The contestants were drawn from ICGC Essamang Kakraba Assembly, Samahu, and Gold Temple.
In the morning, the contestants were given ingredients for them to come up with something delicious for breakfast, while in the afternoon they were asked to prepare all sorts of dishes from rice and yam to display their cooking skills.
Mrs Mavis Amoako Quaicoe, the first lady of ICGC, Essamang Kakraba Assembly, said on special days like Christmas, they decided to organise the programme for church members to cook together.
She added that they also came together as one Christian family to enjoy themselves and have fun with the children God had given them.
“Some of the contestants have fried their yam, others are making yam balls, but the third group, we do not know what they will be doing because they have not touched their yam,” Mrs Quaicoe said.
She said Christmas was about love because Christ came as a child and grew to die for our sins, so celebrating Christmas was about joy, love, and sharing what they had with those in need.
Although the contestants were not scored, Mrs Quaicoe explained that they showed teamwork, cooking skills, and hygiene.
She thanked all the members for turning up and making the programme a success.
Mrs Mary Afrifa, the Vice President of Gold Temple Precious Vessels of Virtue (PVV), a specialised ministry for women in church, lauded the organisers for giving members a chance to boost their cooking confidence.
She was hopeful that next time ICGC Gold Temple would host the other branches when they hosted such a programme.
Mr Andrews Danso, a member from ICGC Essamang Kakraba Assembly suggested that it should be an annual event to help strengthen the church.
