Inchaban (W/R), Dec. 19, GNA – The Western Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has pledged to ensure the maximum security and safety of holidaymakers, tourists, and other revellers who will visit the region for the Christmas festivities.

Mr Henry Yeledour, the Western Regional Director of the GTA, said the Authority had collaborated with the security agencies to put in place measures to guarantee the safety for everyone throughout the holiday season.

He said this when the Authority in collaboration with the Western Regional Coordinating Council, performed a symbolic ceremony to officially open Sekondi-Takoradi and the entire region to the general public for Christmas activities.

It formed part of the Annual “Sekondi-Taadi Bronya” project by the GTA, that is meant to promote and position the Western Region as the preferred destination for Christmas festivities.

Mr Yeledour said: “Today, we are meeting to officially open the city, and what that means is that we want to assure the general public and all revellers who want to come and celebrate the Christmas that Western Region is ready, and we can assure you of your maximum security and safety.”

According to him, there would be several events to be organised to celebrate the season such as the TadiFest, WestSide Carnival, and Made in Taadi, among others, and called on those from other parts of the country to visit the region for unforgettable experiences.

Aside the events, he asked tourists to visit the region’s heritage sites to explore the beautiful and serene environment in those areas.

Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, reiterated the region’s preparedness to put in place measures to help ensure the safety of holidaymakers.

“Security is our priority, so anybody who drives into this region for this Christmas period is going to have the security that is required to be able to stay here and enjoy their time here,” he noted.

He invited everyone to visit the region and experience the Sekondi-Taadi Bronya with its vibrant masquerade carnival, popularly known as “Ankos” celebrated annually during the Christmas period.
