The award acknowledges GIFEC’s strategic role in expanding equitable access to digital infrastructure and services, particularly in underserved and rural communities.

The ceremony brought together policymakers, development partners, regulators, and industry leaders from across the African continent.

Through targeted investments in telecommunications infrastructure, Community ICT Centres, and digital literacy initiatives, GIFEC has positioned itself as a key driver of Ghana’s digital transformation agenda and universal access objectives.

Mr. Tanko Rashid-Computer, the Acting Administrator of GIFEC was also separately honoured as one of the Top 20 Transformational Leaders of the Year, underscored the importance of inclusive policy implementation and sustained stakeholder collaboration in bridging the digital divide.

His recognition reflects both personal leadership excellence and institutional continuity at a time when digital access is increasingly central to economic participation, education, healthcare delivery, and effective governance.

The ESQ & Sustainability Award Africa recognises institutions that demonstrate measurable impact, transparency, innovation, and long-term sustainability in their interventions.

He said GIFEC’s recognition highlights the Fund’s results-driven approach to managing public resources in support of national development priorities.
