Eastern Regional NHIA organises End-of-Year Staff Durbar

Aburi (E/R), Dec. 16, GNA – The Eastern Regional Office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has ended the year with a staff durbar under the theme: ” Team Eastern, Together We Build, Succeed and Reset. ” 

The durbar brought together staff from the 20 district offices in the region to Aburi Botanical Garden to celebrate excellence, reward achievements and bonds. 

During the awards ceremony, 13 out of the 20 districts received citation of excellence in achieving the Universal Health Coverage (UHC), individuals also grasp the Best Performing Manager, Best Public Relations Officer, Best Supporting Staff, and Best Accountant. 

Others received the Director’s Special Excellence Award. 

Mr Frank Addo, Eastern Regional Director of the NHIA, lauded the staff for their immense contribution to helping the region achieve UHC by registering and renewing a total of 116 percent of its population as of December 12, 2025, with a total active membership of 3.7 million active subscribers. 

The UHC means that all people have access to the full range of quality health services they need, when and where they need them, without financial hardship. 

He said this showed the region’s commitment to leave no one behind in the quest of Universal Health Coverage. 

 Mr Addo said ” the region has four districts currently occupying the first four positions on the nationwide league table, and they are the Akuapem south, Birim South, Manya krobo, and New Juaben South districts. ” 

He encouraged Ghanaians to use NHIA digital platforms such as MYNHIS App or Momo App *929# for registration and renewal of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to free them from the stress of moving to NHIA offices. 

He entreated service providers to desist from taking illegal charges from the client when they visited the hospitals and added that the NHIA will step up its monitoring exercise. 

Dignitaries present at the event were Madam Blandina Norman, Deputy Director of the Membership and Regional Operations (MRO), Mr Vitus Kaleo-Bio, the Director of Managenent Information System (MIS), Madam Oforiwa Portophy, the Director Claims Processing Center, Accra, and Madam Lydia Ana-Bissi, Director of Quality Assurance.
