Dambai (O/R), Dec 24, GNA – The Biakoye District Assembly in the Oti Region has taken a significant step towards inclusive development by supporting 35 additional Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with livelihood items, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in 2025 to 122.

Mr Eric Kwaku Opong, District Chief Executive (DCE), presented fridges, fufu pounding machines, cassava dough processing machines and cash to the beneficiaries to enhance their economic activities.

The DCE cautioned beneficiaries against selling the items provided, stressing that the support was meant to help them attain financial independence through sustainable businesses.

He announced the formation of a monitoring committee to ensure proper use of the items, warning that anyone found selling the items would face sanctions.

Mr Opong explained that the items were procured based on individual requests to enable beneficiaries to start businesses.

He noted that this was the second batch of distributions from the applications received and reiterated government’s commitment to improving the welfare of all PWDs in the district.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Michael Aseidu and Mr Bright Kumi expressed profound gratitude to the Assembly and government for the support, acknowledging its positive impact on their livelihoods.
