By Kamal Ahmed

Kwanyarko(E/R) Dec. 24, GNA – Nana Kwasi Nyarko III, Chief of Akwamu-Kwanyarko and Twafohene of Benkum Division of the Akwamu Traditional Area, has called for the construction of staff accommodation at the Kwanyarko Health Centre to improve productivity and healthcare delivery.

He made the call during the celebration of the World AIDS Day 2025, organised by the Asuogyaman District Health Directorate at Kwanyarko in the Eastern Region.

Nana Nyarko III said the lack of accommodation for health workers remained a major challenge, as some staff rented houses far from the facility, a situation he said affected punctuality and efficiency.

” When the challenge is helped solved by Mr. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, the Member of Parliament (MP), and well meaning individuals it will enhance service delivery,” he said.

He further appealed for the expansion of the Kwanyarko Health Centre into a polyclinic, noting that ” there is vast land available for such development.”

The Chief said an upgrade would serve not only  people of Kwanyarko but also neighbouring communities such as Apeguso, Aboasa, and Nnudu, thereby improving access to healthcare and supporting sustainable development.

“I am appealing to our MP who is also the Deputy Minister for Finance, to expand this facility into a polyclinic for us,” he said.

Demonstrating his commitment to the health centre, Nana Nyarko III, donated GH¢3,000 to the management to support the purchase of chairs and other furniture for patients and visitors.

The Chief also urged government to ensure that casual workers at the facility were enrolled onto the government payroll to improve their welfare.
