Adaklu Kpetsu (V/R), Dec. 19, GNA – Mr Godsway Mensah, a Focal Person of the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), has urged adolescent girls to frequently visit health facilities to access expert advice and support for their well-being.
He said regular visits would help adolescents build knowledge, confidence, and sound decision-making skills.
Mr Mensah gave the advice at the opening of a 10-day reproductive health session organised by PPAG under the theme, “The Clinic Is Yours,” for adolescents at Adaklu Kpetsu in the Adaklu District.
“The Clinic Is Yours” is a youth open-day initiative being implemented by PPAG in selected communities with funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The programme aims to create a safe and enabling environment for young people to access youth-friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services.
Mr Mensah noted that PPAG was Ghana’s leading provider of sexual and reproductive health services, focusing on empowerment, informed choices and the overall well-being of adolescents and vulnerable groups.

He said the organisation provided SRHR information through education, clinics and community outreach programmes to improve the quality of life of young people.
Mr Mensah explained that access to accurate reproductive health information empowered adolescents to make responsible decisions regarding relationships and sexual activity.
He encouraged adolescents to abstain from sex but advised those who could not to practice safe sex by using condoms to prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, including gonorrhoea and syphilis.
He also advised adolescent girls to practise proper menstrual hygiene and take good care of their bodies.
Mr Mensah further encouraged parents to provide balanced diets for their adolescent girls to support healthy growth and development.
The adolescents who participated in the programme were tested for HIV/AIDS and other health conditions.
