Accra, Nov. 13, GNA – The Ghana Police Service and Ghana Armed Forces have arrested 300 suspects in a joint security operation across selected communities in the Ahafo Region.
The coordinated exercise, conducted in Hwidiem, Kenyasi, Goaso, and Mehame, aims to combat crime, maintain public order, and enhance community safety.
According to police sources, the operation also targeted individuals linked to recent attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), journalists, police officers, and officials of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The sources indicated that the operation had proceeded without major incidents.
In a related development, a police brief stated that the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Armed Forces assured residents of the affected communities that adequate measures were in place to safeguard public safety and security.
Residents reportedly expressed satisfaction with the exercise, describing it as timely and reassuring.
Details, including profiles of the suspects and specific offences, are being compiled.
