Kete-krachi (O/R), Nov 19, GNA-The Krachi-Nchumuru Traditional Council in the Oti Region has appealed to the government and security agencies to expedite action in bringing to justice the perpetrators behind the murder of the late Benkumhene of the Council, Nana Kwame Mebo II.
Nana Mebo II and two others were shot and killed on November 19, 2022, at Borae-Ahenfie, a farming community in the Krachi-Nchumuru District.
The incident, carried out by unknown assailants, has since heightened tension in the area.
Addressing the media on behalf of the traditional council, the Acting President, Nana Akwasi Omakomente, called on the President, security services and the Oti Regional Minister to intervene and ensure that the suspects were arrested and prosecuted.
He disclosed that after the attack; the assailants burnt the chief’s palace and made away with traditional regalia and other important cultural items.
“The people of Nchumuru continue to suffer after three years of the killing, despite evidence presented to security agencies. It is time for the government to act for justice to prevail,” he lamented.
Nana Omakomente noted with concern that the suspected perpetrators were still walking free and continue to issue threats to residents, creating fear and insecurity within the community.
He stressed that ensuring justice for the late chief and the other victims was the surest way to ease tensions and restore lasting peace in the area.
