Accra, Nov. 18, GNA – The Frimpong-Manso Institute (FMI) has called on authorities to draw lessons from the recent tragic deaths of six female potential recruits and initiate reforms to ensure fairness, transparency, and safety in future recruitment exercises.
In a statement issued in Accra, the Institute expressed profound sadness over the incident, describing it as a national tragedy that underscores the urgency for change.
“One way to stanch the blood flow is to achieve a flawless, fair, transparent and absolutely safe record in the next recruitment exercise,” the statement said.
FMI noted that the massive gatherings of young people at recruitment centres and the desperation exhibited reflect the magnitude of unemployment in the country.
The Institute urged stakeholders to move beyond condemning lapses and recycling promises on job creation, stressing the need for innovative, pragmatic, and sustainable policy actions to secure decent livelihoods for the population.
“This will instill hope in school graduates in particular and significantly minimize the social consequences and security implications of youth unemployment,” the statement added.
The Institute said it awaits the outcome of investigations into the El-Wak Stadium disaster and hopes the findings will inform comprehensive reforms in recruitment processes.
