Akropong (Ash), Nov. 19, GNA – A 49-year-old labourer has been granted bail in the sum of GHC100,000 with two sureties by the Asante Akropong District Court for allegedly selling the same parcel of land to two different people at Atwima-Boaso.
Ernest Boakye, also known as Yaw Boakye, pleaded not guilty to the charge of granting land without title.
He is expected to reappear before the court on November 27, 2025.
Police Detective Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu, presenting the facts of the case, told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Wiafe Adu that the complainant, Bernard Awuah, was a pastor residing at Atwima-Sepaase, while the accused works as a labourer at Boaso.
According to the prosecution, the complainant acquired a building plot from the Boaso Chief, Nana Kofi Bimpong II, on May 20, 2015, and subsequently constructed a three-bedroom foundation on it.
However, on October 19, 2025, the complainant received information that the land had been cleared with a bulldozer.
He proceeded to the site and later obtained the contact of one Stephen Asante, a witness in the case, who claimed to have purchased the same plot for GHC50,000 from the accused.
The complainant lodged a report with the Abuakwa Police, leading to the arrest of Boakye on November 7, 2025.
In his caution statement, the accused admitted the offence.
After investigations, he was charged and arraigned before the court.
