Tamale (N/R) Nov. 5, GNA – A three-day training workshop has commenced in Tamale, in the Northern Region, bringing together over 30 journalists and media professionals from the Upper West, Savannah, and Oti Regions.
The training, organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) ECOWAS Peace and Security Project (EPSG) in collaboration with the Ghana National Peace Council (NPC), aims to enhance the capacity of journalists to address hate speech, misinformation, and disinformation.
The workshop focuses on building skills in fact-checking, open-source intelligence (OSINT), artificial intelligence applications, conflict-sensitive reporting, and media information literacy.
The initiative is part of a broader partnership between ECOWAS and the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), supported by the GIZ programme.
Dr. Charles Ohene-Amoah, Central Regional Executive Secretary of National Peace Council, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to enhance journalists and media professionals in promoting peace and responsible journalism, and encourages others to join in the effort.
He urged journalists to utilize the opportunity to enhance their skills in promoting peace and responsible reporting.
He appealed to emphasise the importance of journalists being equipped to report accurately and sensitively, thereby contributing to a more informed and peaceful society.
