Cologne, Nov 17, (dpa/GNA) – Human body parts have been found on a motorway in western Germany, police said on Monday.
The Siegen public prosecutor’s office and Hagen police reported the discovery overnight on the A45 Autobahn near Olpe, east of Cologne.
The body parts belong to an unidentified woman.
According to information from the Westfalenpost and Bild newspapers, they consist of two severed hands.
Officers were responding to a report of an object on the carriageway when they made the discovery, said a police spokeswoman.
A homicide squad has been established, although the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
In order to search the area around the site of the discovery, the motorway was temporarily closed.
