Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre opens, a symbol of community service

Effutu, Nov. 25, GNA— The Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre was officially commissioned on Monday, marking a milestone in the Ateitu in the Effutu Constituency community’s healthcare journey.  

The centre, equipped with modern medical equipment, is a befitting tribute to the legacy of Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe, a dedicated individual who spent his life serving the community. 

The health centre boasts a range of amenities, including a hematology analyzer, microscopes, wheelchairs, delivery beds, delivery sets, and a pharmacy for essential medications.  

The others are oxygen cylinders, examination couches, and beds with drips. 

Its design is disability-friendly, with ramps to accommodate the elderly and physically challenged. 

In his speech at the commissioning in Effutu, Mr Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, expressed gratitude to the technical support team, the municipal health director, and other contributors who helped make the project a reality.  

He encouraged community members to be active citizens, reporting any issues or concerns to his office. 

He said, “The opening of this health centre is a fulfillment of a promise to bring quality healthcare closer to our people.” 

“I urge all stakeholders to work together to make Effutu a better place,” he said. 

Mr Afenyo-Markin, also the Minority Leader, noted that the health centre was expected to improve healthcare outcomes for the people of Ateitu and surrounding areas, providing quality healthcare services for generations to come. 

Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Whom the health facility was named after for his dedicated services to the community and constituency, thanked the MP for his heartfelt gratitude for his work done for the constituency over the years to merit him such a reward.  

He called for continued collaborative efforts of constituents to be involved in building the constituency. 

Nana Obosu II, Chief of Ateitu and also Apedwahene of the Effutu Traditional Area, lauded the MP for the initiative, saying the community will help protect the hospital and prayed God’s blessings for him. 

Dr Paulette Brown, the Municipal Director of Health, highlighted the importance of the facility in achieving universal health coverage.  

She emphasized the need for collaboration among healthcare providers, stakeholders, and community members to improve access to quality healthcare for the people of Dzatakrom and surrounding communities. 

“The new health centre is equipped with modern medical equipment, which will significantly enhance healthcare delivery,” she said. 

Dr Brown expressed appreciation for the efforts of the MP in strengthening healthcare infrastructure.  

Reverend Atta Mensah, Municipal Chief Executive, Effutu, said the health centre was a significant step towards achieving the Ghana Health Service’s vision of universal health coverage. 

“We need all, NDC, NPP to develop Winneba. We can’t continue on a divided path; we need to work together,” he said. 

He acknowledged the MP for the massive development embarked on in the constituency, which fits into the agenda of President John Dramani Mahama. 

“The president aims at transforming Ghana’s facet of transformation through unity. Let us all work together and build a national health agenda,” he said.
