Jinijini, (Bono), Nov. 25, GNA – Mrs Hilda Owusu-Kyere, the Berekum West District Finance Officer has urged the people to pay their taxes, rates and fees to enable the assembly to generate revenue required for development.
She said the assembly ought to improve its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) by enhancing its revenue mobilization efforts to raise more funds to bring the development of the area to the next level.
Mrs Owusu-Kyere gave the advice when the Finance and Administration Committee of the Assembly launched a revenue mobilization exercise at Jinijini, the district capital.
She explained that the exercise followed recommendations from a recent General Assembly Meeting aligned with the Public Financial Management Act to improve revenue mobilization in the district.
Mrs Owusu-Kyere asked the assembly’s revenue collectors to redouble their efforts in revenue collection and asked the district taskforce to support the collectors.
In a related development, Mr Collins Asomah, the Berekum West District Chief Executive urged tricycle (pragyia) riders in the area to be safety conscious.
Interacting with the riders at Jinijini, he asked their leadership to ensure that every pragyia rider was registered under the Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for their own good.
Some of the riders who spoke during an open forum, expressed appreciation to the chief executive and pledged to pay their required taxes and also contribute their quota towards improving waste management and sanitation in the area.
