Sunyani (Bono), Nov. 21, GNA – Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister has commended the Health Accounting Staff Association of Ghana (HASAG) for promoting financial management, accountability, and transparency in the nation’s health sector.
He highlighted the crucial role of the association in advancing the nation’s health sector, saying the recognized and appreciated the vital role of health accounting professionals in the efficient management of resources.
Mr Akwaboa made the commendation in a speech read on his behalf at the opening session of the 19th Annual General Congress of the HASAG in Sunyani.
The association used the event to highlight their immense contributions to the growth and development of the country’s healthcare system.
Mr Akwaboa urged the association to uphold high standards of integrity, honesty, neutrality, and accountability urging more collaboration, knowledge sharing, and effective financial governance in the health sector.
He said the government remained committed to improving the conditions of service of the health accounting professionals and lauded the association’s dedication towards a transparent and people-centered health financing system.
“The Association’s integrity and professionalism enhance the delivery of quality healthcare, and their services are well appreciable,” the Minister stated and urged them to innovate in identifying risks and irregularities to protect the public purse.
Mr Akwaboa advised the association to continue adhering to high ethical standards and professionalism and strengthen accountability in health sector expenditure for efficient management of resources.
He said the government priorities focused on accountable health financing, and expanding infrastructure for health primary care, saying the establishment of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) was a testament and key intervention.
