Sunyani, (Bono), Nov. 14, GNA – The 1994 ‘O’ level year group of the Sunyani Senior High School Old Students on Friday presented 100 pieces of learning tables to the school with a call on the students to learn hard to achieve high academic laurels.

Mr Justice Collins Adu-Baffoe, a representative of the group and member of the National Executive Council of SOSA, who gave the advice, urged the students to minimize the use of the new media, and concentrate more on their books.

Addressing the students and tutors at a short presentation ceremony in Sunyani, Mr Adu-Baffoe said the donation was in line with the celebration of the 30 anniversary of the group.

He emphasised that education remained the best and surest legacy families could bequeath their children and asked the students to shun unhealthy lifestyles that could truncate their education and probably ruin their future.

He entreated the students to leverage the conducive learning environment at the school and use their leisure periods productively and to revise their notes, and also engage their teachers on subjects they found difficult to understand.

Mr Adu-Baffoe said the SOSA remained committed to support the school to meet its physical infrastructure shortcomings and to improve the learning environment for academic work to progress.

Mr Gordon Osei Marfo, the Headmaster of the Sunyani Senior High (SUSEC), thanked the group for the gesture and appealed for more learning desks to meet the growing student population.

He said the student population kept increasing, explaining that established in 1960 with only 30 students, the school now had 4,550 students.

Mr Marfo expressed appreciation to stakeholders, including the Parent Teacher Association and the SOSA as well as teaching and non-teaching staff for their immense contributions towards the growth and development of SUSEC.
