Dambai (O/R), Oct. 1, GNA- The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC), have organised a programme to empower youth leaders from three selected districts, Krachi East, Nkwanta South and Nkwanta North on adolescent reproductive rights and child protection issues.

Mr Innocent Agbolosu, Oti Regional Director of Social Welfare, sensitised youth leaders on adolescent reproductive rights, child rights, and protection issues.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Oti Regional Director emphasised the importance of protecting adolescents from sexual transmitted infections (STI) and promoting family planning.

Other facilitators from Ghana Health Service and other experts educated participants on adolescent sexual rights, child responsibilities, and protection.

Participants developed action plans to engage their groups and communities to ensure that the messages were disseminated effectively.

The programme aimed to monitor progress and ensure that the knowledge gained is applied in the communities.

The programme is a collaboration between UNFPA and ORCC, with funding support from UNFPA.
