New York, Oct 29, (dpa/GNA) – Two Germans have been killed in a violent crime in the US state of Tennessee, local media reported on Wednesday.
The German company Barnstorfer Kunststofftechnik (Barku) announced on its website that the victims were employees of a subsidiary.
Citing the local police authority, US media reported that the victims were both German citizens.
The German embassy in Washington did not initially respond to a dpa enquiry about the story.
According to reports, a 38-year-old man opened fire on Monday morning. The suspected shooter was an employee of the plant in the city of Cleveland.
After the incident, the man reportedly fled and barricaded himself in a house in a neighbouring town. A special task force surrounded the building for several hours and eventually found the suspect dead, having apparently killed himself.
Further details and background information on the incident were not immediately available.
