Tema, Oct 13, GNA- The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has presented some furniture to two basic schools in the metropolis to help improve education in the area.
Ms Ebi Bright, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, presenting the furniture, said the first batch of furniture, comprising 15 chairs and six tables for teachers and 120 pupils’ desks, was for Community Eight Number One and Republic Road Schools.
Ms Bright said school infrastructure within the metropolis was bad, and her outfit was working towards improving it.
She added that the TMA was in collaboration with the Ghana Education Trust Fund, the District Assembly’s Common Fund, and other educational institutions to help provide the needed infrastructure, especially the school buildings, most of which were not in good shape.
She also appealed to the companies operating within the metropolis to support the assembly to attend to some of the education needs as part of their corporate social responsibility to help in the delivering of quality education to children.
The MCE commended the education directorate for the advocacy role in ensuring that education was prioritised in the area.
Madam Bernice Ofori, the Tema Metro Director of Education, received the furniture on behalf of the schools and promised to maintain it to serve its intended purpose for years.
