Accra, Oct 7, GNA -The Queenmother of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Nana Afua Nketiaa Obuo II,together with her elders from Akropong-Akuapem will organise a news conference in Accra on Wednesday, Oct 8.
Although the venue and agenda are yet to be confirmed before Wednesday, her office has described the Conference as “urgent and of high importance” to the governance of Akuapem especially in light of upcoming Odwira Festival.
The Queenmother will be ably supported by other elders from Akropong.
A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday said the news conference underscored the gravity of matters to be discussed, and the current happenings in the Akuapem Traditional Area.
The Okuapehemea is the Maternal Custodian of the Ofori Kuma Heritage and as Akan Matrilineal custom demands, she is the pivot of decision-making in the Akuapem Traditional Area, especially in the selection of the next Okuapehene.
