Sunyani, (Bono), Oct. 22, GNA-Mr. Seid Mubarak, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, has performed a groundbreaking ceremony for work to begin on the construction of a mechanised water project for the Sunyani Technical Institute.

The MP said the facility, on its completion, would greatly tackle the perennial acute water problem facing the students.

Speaking at a short ceremony at the premises of the institute in Sunyani, Mr Seid said the project followed an appeal by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and asked the contractors to speed up the project execution.

He commended the authorities for their efforts in providing the requisite employable skills training for the students, despite the teething and pertinent challenges, and pledged to support them to improve infrastructure development.

Mr Mubarak advised the management of the institute to adopt the culture of maintenance to protect government properties.

He said with their vast land, the institute could engage in commercial farming to improve its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) and also support feeding the students as well.

Mr Paul Alexander Sabi, the Headmaster of the Institute thanked the MP and expressed the hope that the water project would be completed on time to meet the water demand needs of the growing student population.
