Accra, Oct. 27, GNA- The Ghana Chapter of the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare Global Alumni (KGA) health activities has brought relief to the communities in the country.

The chapter had undertaken initiatives to strengthen healthcare in Ghana, including conducting medical outreaches, organising blood donation drives, and participating in professional development events.

Dr Ralf Armah, National President of KGA, said this in Accra at the Chapter’s Annual General Assembly in Accra.

The General Assembly provides a platform to share progress, exchange ideas, and elect new executives to steer the affairs of the Alumni Association.

It also explores new opportunities for partnership in improving healthcare outcomes across the country.

Dr Armah said the chapter under his tenure organised a blood donation exercise and sent it to the regional hospital.

The chapter had also embarked on free clinical consultation at Jamestown and public awareness on clubfoot.

Other activities, he stated, included an outreach clinic at Nsawam, where some of the inmates underwent surgeries and eye screening, among others.

Dr Armah said the chapter also organised a non-communicable disease campaign to promote wellness and health.

On the way forward, he said the chapter’s activities would be impactful, sustainable and Sustainable Development Goals driven.

The chapter intended to identify flagship activities and scale them up across the country.

Since 2015, the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) has invited Ghanaian health professionals to the Republic of Korea to participate in the Dr LEE Jong-wook Fellowship Programme.

The initiative aimed at strengthening their professional capacity and advancing healthcare delivery in Ghana.

To foster continuous collaboration and knowledge exchange among beneficiaries, the KOFIH Ghana Office, together with the executives of the KOFIH Global Alumni, organises an annual general assembly meeting that brings together all alumni of the fellowship programme.

Mr Bomin Yang, Country Representative, KOFIH Ghana Office, said since 2021, the Ghana KGA Alumni had grown stronger every year because of their passion and dedication to serve humanity.

“KOFIH continues to support the Ghana KGA because we believe that this fellowship is more than a training programme. It is a community that keeps learning and working together for a better health system in Ghana,” he said.
