Government reviews curfew hours in Nkwanta township, environs

Nkwanta (O/R), Oct 23, GNA-Mr. Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the Minister of Interior, has reviewed the curfew hours imposed on Nkwanta Township and its environs in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.  

In a press release dated Thursday, October 23, 2025, the curfew starts from 2000 to 0500 hours daily compared to previously 1800 pm to 0500 hours. 

According to the press release issued by the Ministry of Interior, the decision was made on the advice of the Oti Regional Security Council through an Executive Instrument.  

The government is therefore urging local leaders, including chiefs and opinion leaders, as well as the youth and the general public, to remain calm and seek peaceful resolutions to the challenges they are facing.  

The government emphasised the importance of nonviolent means to address issues in the area and encouraged the community to channel their energies towards maintaining peace. 

The curfew was part of broader efforts to ensure stability and security in the Municipality.  

The situation in the area remains under close monitoring, and further updates are expected as the security personnel continue to bring long-lasting peace. 

Some of the residents share their joy that the decision by the Interior Ministry brings a sense of ease, especially in their daily activities.
